  • Do you offer a warranty with your devices?
Yes! Each device goes through a 25 point inspection to ensure full functionality and each is sold with a 30 day warranty unless otherwise specified. Only devices purchased at the asking price qualify for the 30 day warranty. Devices purchased at a price negotiated by the buyer are covered by a 15 day warranty. Please read the entire warranty disclaimer below. The warranty covers issues found to be faulty with the device during the warranty period through no fault of the buyer. The warranty does not cover issues that are caused by the buyer misusing, dropping, or damaging the device, including the device being taken apart in any way. Devices returned under warranty must be returned within 3 days of the return request, unless otherwise agreed upon, and the device must be returned in the exact condition as it was when sold. Damage occurring to the device after purchase automatically voids the warranty. Devices that have defects are advertised as such and said defects will not be covered under warranty. Any phones returned under warranty will be thoroughly inspected for misuse/damage and I may require up to an hour to inspect the device. Once I have verified the device meets warranty requirements, the buyer will first be offered a repair or replacement. If no replacement is available, the buyer will be offered alternative options including a refund. Active manufacturer warranties supersede the warranty I offer. I offer an additional 30 day warranty for an additional 15% of the cost of the device. Returns due to buyer's remorse (buyer simply changed their mind) will be allowed during the warranty period minus a 15% restocking fee as long as the item is in the same condition. Please note that when taking an Android device to your carrier as a "bring your own phone" or similar program, many times your carrier will need to update the APN settings on your device before all functions work perfectly. This is especially common with carriers such as Straight Talk, Cricket, etc. Adjusting those settings is not a task that I do for my customers and is solely yours and your carriers responsibility. My warranty does not cover your (or your carrier's) inability to properly adjust the APN settings of the device to achieve its full potential or functionality. *By purchasing a device from The Phone Guy, you agree to all terms and conditions regarding the warranty, as outlined above.
  • Are your phones refurbished?
Most of the used devices I sell are lightly used and not refurbished. However, at times I will offer phones for sale that have had parts replaced such as screens, batteries, etc., and are technically considered refurbished. Those listings will always make mention of what parts were replaced.
  • Do you accept trade-ins or buy used devices?
I do accept trade-ins and also buy used devices, depending on the phone/device you have. After you give me all of details of the device, I will give you a quote as to the trade-in and/or sale value. The value of your device is determined by many factors including, but not limited to, the condition of your device and the value of you device based on my distributors' prices. Trade-ins are at my discretion and not all devices are accepted.
  • Do you repair phones?
My primary focus is on the retail aspect of buying, selling, and trading of phones/devices. However, I am skilled to complete several minor repairs on most iPhones, including screen repairs, battery replacements, etc. If I am unable to repair your device, I have partnered with a repair service provider in New York that can take care of most repairs within a few days.
  • How can I tell what condition each device is in?
We do our absolute best to accurately describe each device so you have a solid understanding of the condition the phone is in before you purchase it. For that reason, we have established the following rating system (A through C) and rate each phone accordingly. A +/- will be used to indicate a device is rated at the top of the assigned condition category. We don't sell devices that are graded at less than C Level. A+ is the gold standard for a used device. Devices rated as A+ will be in mint condition and look like new. A grades - device will be in very good cosmetic condition with only very light wear present. Light wear may consist of extremely light scratches on the screen, back, and/or housing. Devices in this category will be in excellent condition and the wear will be minimal. B grades - device will be in good overall shape with light wear such as scratches on the screen, back, and/or housing. Corners may show light wear such as minor dings, dents, or scrapes. Consider these devices as in average used condition. C grades – device will be in fair condition with noticeable wear such as heavy amounts of scratches on the screen, back, and/or housing. Corners may show heavy wear such as dings, dents, or scrapes.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
For all in person transactions, I accept cash, Paypal, Cash App, Venmo, Facebook Pay, or credit/debit card (4% surcharge for all payments made via card). For all orders submitted via the website, I only offer PayPal as a payment method due to the security that it offers to myself and to buyers. I used to offer the option to pay directly via credit/debit card, but I have run into too much fraud (people using stolen credit card numbers) with that option. For that reason, only PayPal is offered for online orders. If you are interested in purchasing a phone and having it shipped, I can accept payments via Paypal, Venmo, Cash App, Facebook Pay, or credit/debit card. Please contact me if you are interested in making a purchase in this manner.
